NEW ANNOUNCEMENT - I'll always have the newest announcements at the top of this page...it will be in a different color than the older announcementts. I've just added several links on the course documents page. Everything from Typical Problems, Flash Photography, Macro, lightmeters, photo quotes and more. We should be having two or three more people joining us in class over the weekend. Feel free to get in discussions with each other on the discussion boards, ask me questions etc. I'll be updating the glossary over the weekend with many "digital" terms.
New Announcement - I made the assigment to email a photo to me at foto-1@charter.net . Try to send it as a jpeg at 72 dpi at 5 x 7 size (that equals about 360 x 504 pixels) Hopefully you have read the section on "workflow". I realize that is a lot material to digest, and you may not need, or have the technology, to accomplish all that. But as you move along in digital imaging, it's something you need to know.
The next section I'd like you to read is on color balance. After reading that section, if your camera has a MANUAL color balance setting, take your camera and shoot ONE SCENE with color balance set at 1) Daylight 2) Tungsten 3) Overcast or cloudy and 4) Fluorescent - then let the class know what you found - If you have figured out how to get the photos emailed to me....I'd be more than happy to post them..where we can talk about them.
A few explanations
TUNGSTEN LIGHTS - are regular household lightbulbs, spotlights etc
FLUORESCENT - are ussually the long skinny bulbs you find in ceiling fixtures
Welcome to your first day of class - I normally check my emails at least twice per day (usually more) and I will be looking in on this site at least twice a day (well OK my day a day off occassionally). This class is about photography, so feel free to send photos at any time. Just let me know if you want them posted for others to see.
Please email me by clicking here foto-1@charter.net and letting me know that you have succesfully logged onto this class.
Feel free to ask questions - since students will be at various levels, I know I'll be receiving a variety of questions. This class is supposed to be educational, but also fun.
If you do not have a digital camera this class may help you make a buying decision. If you are still shooting with film, you can either scan your prints to send to class or have your negatives scanned - many stores, including Walmart, Eckert, Walgreens etc will process your film and scan the negatives to CD.
